Signing up at IWantBlacks is a piece of cake. Even if it doesn’t offer an option to register via Facebook, the process starts and ends with one form.

For starters, you need to be at least 18 years old to become a member of IWantBlacks. Then you’ll select your orientation and preference (a man looking for a woman, a woman looking for a man, a man looking for a man, or a woman looking for a woman) and key in your age.

You will also need to input your email and password. IWantBlacks will automatically tag your location (city and zip code), but if it’s incorrect, you may edit it manually.

After making sure you put all the right details, select “Join Now!”

Before taking a look around IWantBlacks, you’ll need to activate your account first. The dating site will email you an activation link and code. Press the link to activate, or key in the 4-digit code to complete your registration.

In terms of communication, IWantBlacks offer several features for its members.

Given the claims on fake accounts, the dating site limited the accessibility of standard members to this functionalities. That way, a person with malicious intent may be dissuaded to continue, because they have to shell out some money first.

• Winks

Even in real life, you share a wink with someone to show you got them or you’re interested in them. At IWantBlacks, this wordless interaction can be the start of a flirtation. What’s probably the best part is that this feature is for free.

• Like Gallery

If you’d instead check on a member one-by-one, then head to IWantBlack’s Like Gallery. A pretty simple game of cute or not, this free feature shows you a member’s photo with their name and age. Hit “x” or “heart” whichever you prefer.

At the bottom, you’ll see the members you liked and the members who liked you. A third tab, Matches, will show you if both you and a member liked each other. If that’s the case, go and shoot your shot.

• Favourites

Keep a record of all the members you find attractive by adding them to your Favorites list. That way, you can always head back and consult your Favorites and never worry that you missed out on someone. This feature is also free, so go ahead and add some more.

• Chat

The primary communication function of IWantBlacks is understandably for paying users only. Aside from sending texts to your matches, you may also share photos and videos for more vivid interactions on chat.

Standard accounts are given a total of five (5) free chats so they can try out the function for themselves.

One minor beef we had with the website is that we receive numerous messages and interactions right after verifying our test account.

Since the account was new, it didn’t have a photo nor details. The account was stark naked, and this made us wonder what the members found interesting that they winked, favourited, or messaged us.

Profiles at IWantBlacks may not be as packed. If completed and viewed as a paying member, however, you get more than enough information to form a general idea of what the user is like in person.

A member’s profile contains five (5) essential sections:

• Thumbnail

Like a YouTube thumbnail that acts as an informative teaser, the upper portion of the profile will include a member’s primary photo, age, and location.

This section will also feature three interaction buttons (Chat, Like, Add to Favorites). The option to block or report said user would also be included here.

• Personal Info

Located at the left side of the profile, details on orientation, hair color, ethnic origin, and body type will be placed here. If the member didn’t fill it out, you might ask them to add the information. 

• Member Photos

A member can upload as many photos as they want at IWantBlacks. For standard members, this section will be blurry and inaccessible.

• Looking For

They say it's easier to bond with someone who shares the same interest and “Looking For” seems to be the section to know just that. This premium feature will let you know if the member is up for relationships, dates, or hookups. 

• Additional Info

This part right here will list down a member’s answers to questions like their eye and hair colour, physique, marital and parental status, and vices if any.

A standard member can view most parts (except photos and the Looking for section), so they can still see if the member matches them well. However, since you can skip the profile building for later, most of the pages we’ve seen are empty save for the necessary details and some photos.

Although you can quickly move around the website in a free account, paying for premium will still help your form connections. As a premium member, you get the most out of IWantBlack’s communication features and even call first dibs on the website’s newest functions.

For female users, subscriptions come in three packages each with a strength of its own:

• Chataholic turns you into a popular member by making sure your account tops messenger and search rankings. 
• Extra Security entitles you to full HTTPS encryption, incognito browsing, and auto history cleaning.
• Premium Dater is the subscription for you if you want the best of both worlds. Be popular and stay safe with this package.

The males of IWantBlacks will get to enjoy monthly subscriptions that cover 1, 3, and 6 months. Unlike the female users who pay functions by day, males need a little commitment with the monthly deals. As such, IWantBlacks offers 3-Day Trial which will cost them AUSD1.41 a day or AUSD4.23 in total.

In the event that you want to cancel your subscription to IWantBlacks, you may do so. Visit the “My Settings” to go to your “Billing History” where the option to “Deactivate Subscription” will be.
